$1,200,000

Invested in New Mexico

Our Mission

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM) recognizes the importance of strong community involvement and we have created a company culture that values giving.

Blue Cross Blue Shield donated more than $1.2 million last year, including more than $78,000 directly from our employees. These donations went to a wide variety of nonprofit and other community organizations in New Mexico who are working daily to improve the lives of New Mexicans.

BCBSNM employees volunteer their time to a wide variety of organizations. In 2016, they provided more than 11,000 volunteer hours through our volunteer program, Blue Corps. Employees are encouraged to volunteer for corporate-directed community initiatives, as well as for organizations with which they feel a special connection. Blue Corps by definition describes our dedicated group of giving employees. Our employees volunteer with a smile on their face and with a generous spirit.

$28,000 for the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk

Our employees raised almost $28,000 for the annual American Heart Association Heart Walk. The BCBSNM employee team was 200 strong and walked in honor and in memory of grandmothers, aunts, friends, sons and daughters, as well as for themselves.

$27,000 for the American Cancer Society

Our company went pink in October by participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, raising more than $27,000 for the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) efforts to fund research and assist those affected by breast cancer. BCBSNM was a flagship sponsor for the event and more than 200 Blue Corps members walked the bosque to support the fight against breast cancer.

$13,500 for 34 adults and 61 children.

Our employees showed their holiday spirit in December by adopting 25 families from the Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program. Each family member received gifts from their wish list, clothes and food to help make their holiday brighter. Employees raised more than $13,500 for 34 adults and 61 children.
